Student and Parents,
The Cambridge Cross Country season has begun! Everyone is welcome and invited to join the captains and runners during the current summer training runs at local parks. Athletes from every sport are strongly encouraged to join us for training runs. Cross country training provides an excellent platform for athletes from other sports to gain base fitness. This is especially true for spring sports. Cross Country is also a great new sports team for students to remain or become active and join a great social circle of friends.
Melissa Massey, formerly Head Coach at Alpharetta High School, is leading our new team as Cambridge Cross Country Head Coach. During her coaching career, she's earned the impressive reputation of training competitive athletes to perform at their top potential, as well as creating an environment for non-competing runners to grow a love for the sport. Katie Boehm serves as assistant coach for the new team.
Coaches Massey and Boehm are planning great events for the new Cambridge runners. In addition to the summer training runs at local parks and various locations, students can participate in organized social outings, a 5K fundraiser for the new trail at Cambridge, and competitive events.
One of Cambridge's great new features will be the cross country trail, currently under construction and progressing on schedule. The trail, carved out of natural features on the property, provides practice trails for both the team and our community. It also qualifies Cambridge to host state level competitions.
Cambridge Cross Country registration is open and will close on August 6th.
