Lady Bears to Elite 8
April, 30 2025 (Atlanta, GA) – The Cambridge Lady Bears traveled in-town on Wednesday night to face a talented Midtown High School team in the state Round of 16.
After 80 minutes, all the Lady Bears could think is, "it's great to be in the Elite 8."
Cambridge turned in a complete team performance to defeat Midtown 5-1.
Scoring started early in the first half, as Aspyn Stucke dropped an inch-perfect corner kick to a charging Maddie Ward. It was a patented Ward set piece dazzler, and it gave the Lady Bears the 1-0 lead.
That was shortly followed by the diabolical Reed Tingley, who took a Katie Coutu pass to the house. The diabolical Reed had a late goal as well, burying a chance created from her sister, the indestructible Regan Tingley.
Other goals tonight were scored by Maddie Klingenspor, who had dominant performance toggling between midfield and wing, and Kiki Mesa with a banger. Senior Aspyn Stucke assisted Klingenspor's goal, also off a corner.
The Lady Bears' defense was dominant tonight. Midtown is known for their attacking talent, and the Lady Bears were a brick wall. Regan Tingley read the game like a maestro, intercepting pass after pass. Katie Coutu didn't allow a player past her. Sienna Solomonson did Sienna Solomonson things all game. And Peyton Tansey dispossessed every attacking threat she faced.
Anna Cate Servine fearlessly came off her line twice to snuff out big threats. The talented Midtown attacking frontline trio were able to break through for a late goal that Servine almost made a ridiculous one-handed save on.
The Lady Bears earned an unexpected extra home game for the Elite 8. They will face Walnut Grove on Monday, May 5th at Cambridge. Come support the Lady Bears as they fight for their first state title.
