JV Soccer Ends Season with a Draw vs. Roswell

JV Soccer Ends Season with a Draw vs. Roswell

On Wednesday night, the Lady Bears Junior Varsity team capped a successful season with a 1-1 draw against an excellent Roswell team.

The draw concluded the JV team's season at 3-5-2.

As with most of their games this year, their season finale was a nail biter.

Nevea Andersen scored the lone Cambridge goal. For much of the year, the theme for the Lady Bears JV team was defense. Strong goalkeeping from Ella Keane and Emma Hunt, along with stout back line play from defenders Anjali Chahwala, Olivia DuCille, Priscilla Lancaster and Balroop Virk kept every game close and competitive.

Defensive mids Adhira Yerramsetty, Maggie Shy and Cindy Yang helped buoy the defense further. Most matches ended with just a one goal differential.

As the season progressed, the offense found its stride and attackers Laila Baker, Ashley Vipperman, Darcy Amon, Reagan Anderson, and Sophia Faby began to terrorize opposing defenses.  Shout out to Emily Spencer who impressively scored a hat trick mid-season.

Through astute passing and the aggressive marking of their opponents, Ava Pletka, Gabrielle Edwards, and Sophia Bivek made the Lady Bears JV team a tough match against any school.

By the last game of the season, the JV team showed tremendous growth. The Lady Bears JV squad demonstrated it has the talent needed to continue the Varsity's team mission to be a state championship contender every season. In fact, JV players already contributed to Varsity this year, as Emma Hunt played two matches in goal and Emily Spencer scored a goal in her first call up.

None of the team's success would have been possible without the coaching and tutelage of coaches, Bri Bullock Evans, Diane Bunting, and Peter Vogt.
