Bears Finish Top 5 at Fulton County Championship
BEARS CONTINUE JOURNEY OF A CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON: FIVE NEW SCHOOL RECORDS ARE SET
 
The Cambridge track and field team hosted the Fulton County track & field championship on Saturday, March 28. Competing against 14 other schools, the Bears managed to finish among the top five in both the boys and girls divisions.
 
Additionally, during the week the team was able to break five school records and establish a number of top ten historical performances at Cambridge. An overview of some of the top performances include:
 
GIRLS
 
Kennedy Williams - fourth in the 100 meters (personal record and eighth all-time at Cambridge) and second in the 200 meters (personal record and seventh all-time at Cambridge)
 
Ella Alberici - second in the 3200 meters and won the 800 meters in a school record time.
 
Taylor Lasoff - sixth in the 100 meters (personal record and 11th best all-time  at Cambridge)
 
Sylvia Pilling - sixth in the pole vault
 
Wanita Ukoh - seventh in high jump (personal record)
 
Karsen Williams - eighth in high jump
 
The 4x800 meter relay finished fifth and the 4x400 meter relay finished third.
 
BOYS
 
Grant Campbell - had arguably the best individual track and field day in Cambridge history. He won the high jump with a school record leap (currently tied for second in state 4A - tied for seventh in the entire state); he won the long jump with a school record effort and currently leads the state in 4A by a foot - third in the entire state; and he raced to a fifth place finish in the 100 meters (personal record)
 
Dakota Holt-Pledger - finished fourth in high jump and seventh in long jump
 
Andrew Bollenbacher - finished second in pole vault
 
Grey Donner - ran a strategic race to finish second in the 3200 meters
 
Luke Gibbons - bounded to a six place finish in the triple jump (personal record and seventh best all-time at Cambridge
 
Ian Kaltz - finished fourth in shot put (personal record)
 
Will Powell - finished eighth in shot put
 
The 4x100 meter relay finished third with the sixth best time all-time at Cambridge; the 4x200 meter relay finished third; the 4x800 meter relay finished eighth; and the 4x400 meter relay finished sixth.
 
On Friday, March 27, Ella Alberici and Grey Donner set school records in the mile in their respective divisions during the 2nd Annual Marist Mile.
 
A productive week with lots of positives. The team is working hard to keep the drive to a championship season going strong.
