CAMBRIDGE BEARS BEGIN THE JOURNEY TO A CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON - SET ONE SCHOOL RECORD / PLUS AN ALUMNI REPORT
The Cambridge Bears started March with a weekday meet for their younger athletes at Johns Creek High School. Many of the athletes gained valuable experience and one school record was established. Ella Alberici lowered her existing school record in the 800 meters with an excellent effort.
On Saturday, March 7, the team ventured to Creekview High School to compete with 22 additional teams. With a number of athletes competing in less than their maximum number of events, the Bears were still able to secure a number of key performances that should provide a solid start through the month of March on the drive to maximize our region meet effort in April.
Some of the top finishes included:
Kennedy Williams - raced to a fourth place finish in the 100 meters and the 200 meters.
The girls 4x100 meter relay won the event and the 4x200 meter relay finished third.
Grant Campbell - won the long jump.
Grey Donner - raced to fourth place finish in the 3200 meters.
Dakota Holt-Pledger - leaped to a fifth place finish in high jump and an eighth place finish in long jump.
Mohamed Bangura - bounded to a fourth place finish in triple jump.
The team will travel to Milton High School and Sequoyah High School for meets this week.

ALUMNI REPORT
The NCAA indoor season concludes this weekend. Two former Cambridge Bears enjoyed outstanding indoor seasons in their respective conferences.
Julia Versluis (Georgia Southern) - finished seventh in triple jump at the Sun Belt Conference championship late last month.
Lilah Versluis (University of South Florida) - finished fifth in triple jump and seventh in high jump at the American Conference championship late last month. Lilah also was honored as the American Conference's freshman of the year for the indoor season.
Congratulations to both of them and best of luck during the outdoor season.
