3 New School Records to Kick Off Season
THE BEARS EMERGE FROM HIBERNATION IN FIRST MEET: BREAK THREE SCHOOL RECORDS
 
On the last day of February 2026, the Cambridge Bears hosted the first Hi-Bear-Nation Invitational with six other teams attending. The weather was wonderful and the crowd was excited with anticipation for what this year's team would look like. The Cambridge athletes did not disappoint as the girls finished fourth overall and the boys finished third in their respective divisions.
 
The meet featured a number of top finishes for the Cambridge athletes and included three new school records. Some of the noteworthy performances included:
 
GIRLS -
 
Ella Alberici - won the 800 meters in a school record time and was second in the 3200 meters (her time currently leads the state in 4A).
 
Kennedy Williams - was second in the 100 meters and the 200 meters.
 
Taylor Lasoff - won the 300 meter hurdles.
 
Linden Donner - was fourth in the 800 meters.
 
Sarai Adeoso - was fourth in the 100 meters.
 
The ladies won the 4x100 meter relay, the 4x200 meter relay, and finished second in the 4x400 meter relay.
 
BOYS -
 
Grant Campbell - won the high jump,  extending his own school record (he currently leads the state in 4A).
 
Mohamed Bangura - was second in triple jump, extending his own school record; and was fifth in high jump.
 
Dakota Holt-Pledger - won the long jump (personal record) and was second in the high jump (personal record).
 
Andrew Bollenbacher - won the pole vault (personal record).
 
Corbin Phillips - was fifth in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 meters.
 
Grey Donner - was third in the 1600 meters.
 
Luke Gibbons - was third in the long jump.
 
William Morrison - was fourth in the 800 meters (personal record).
 
Ian Kaltz - was fourth in the shot put 
 
Harris Carr - was fifth in the discus and sixth in the shot put.
 
The boys 4x100 meter relay finished second.
 
The team now prepares to go to Creekview High School for a meet the first Saturday in March.
