CAMBRIDGE TRACK & FIELD GIRLS FINISH THIRD IN STATE - BOYS FINISH SEVENTH . THREE SCHOOL RECORDS SET
On May 9-10, 2025, the Cambridge track & field team went to East Jackson High School for the Georgia High School Association 4A state championships. The team battled both days and managed to cap an outstanding season with a third place finish for the girls and a seventh place finish for the boys. A number of team highlights should be noted:
- The girls scored 58 points. This represents the most points ever scored at the state meet in the short history of Cambridge.
- The podium finish by the girls was the third time in the school's history.
- The boys tied their total for the most points in school history at the state meet.
- The team had four individual event winners.
- The team set three school records.
Individually, the team also had some outstanding performances. Scoring at the state meet were the the following:
Lilah Versluis - winning the high jump and the long jump, and placing second in triple jump. Over the last three state meets, she has won two high jumps, one triple jump and one long jump. Well done senior.
Ella Alberici - the talented freshman finished third in the 1600 meters and fourth in the 3200 meters
Kai McCarley - finished sixth in the 400 meters and third in the 200 meters. Hard work this year brought her times down nearly every time she ran. Well done senior .
The girls 4x200 meter relay team won the state title in the event (Taylor Lasoff/Jensen Kelly/Kennedy Williams/Kai McCarley).
Ibrahim Bangura - won the 110 meter hurdles (school record time) and finished third in the 300 meter hurdles. During the last three state meets, he has won three individual medals in the 110 meter hurdles and three in the 300 meter hurdles. Well done senior.
The boys 4x100 meter team finished third. The quartet (Ibrahim Bangura/Craig Dandridge/Tyler Blalock/Cameron Parodi) set a school record in the preliminary round.
Grant Campbell - finished eighth in the high jump.
Francisco Palacios-Rodriguez - finished seventh in the 3200 meters. Well done senior.
Grayson Peterson - finished eighth in the 3200 meters. Well done senior.
The boys 4x800 meter relay team finished sixth in a school record time (Francisco Palacios-Rodriguez/Tanav Prabhu/Mavric Gould/Grayson Peterson). Well done seniors.
As we end this season, we thank the seniors and their families and wish them the best in their future endeavors. As for those returning next year, the future looks bright as well. To all, finish the school academic year strong. See you around the track.
