CAMBRIDGE TRACK & FIELD SHOWCASES STRONG PERFORMANCES AT FULTON COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS - FOUR SCHOOL RECORDS SET.
On Saturday, March 29, the Cambridge track & field team went to Langston Hughes High School for the Fulton County championships. Facing 14 other teams, the girls finished in third place and the boys finished sixth. There were numerous highlights during the day. However, facing some of the top tier teams in the state, the team still manage to set four school records in impressive fashion.
Some of the noteworthy performances:
Lilah Versluis - won the high jump; won the long jump (setting a school record); won the triple jump (setting a school record and currently the leading jump in the state for that event); and finished fourth in the 100 meter hurdles (personal record time).
Ella Alberici - won the 1600 meters (personal record time and a school record) and finished second in the 3200 meters (personal record time).
Kai McCarley - finished seventh in the 100 meters (personal record time) and third in the 400 meters (personal record time).
Kennedy Williams - finished eighth in the 100 meters (personal record time)
Francisco Palacios-Rodriguez - finished third in the 1600 meter run (personal record time).
Grayson Peterson - finished second in the 800 meters.
Ibrahim Bangura - finished third in the 300 meter hurdles.
Grant Campbell - finished second in high jump.
William Morrison - finished seventh in the 3200 meters.
Mohamed Bangura - finished eighth in high jump and eighth in triple jump.
Mavric Gould - finished fifth in the 800 meters (personal record time).
Aiden McHugh - finished fifth in the 1600 meters.
Craig Dandridge - finished fifth in the high jump.
Pierson Delp - finished eighth in the discus (personal record).
The girls 4x800 meter relay finished seventh; the girls 4x100 meter relay finished seventh; the boys 4x800 meter relay finished seventh; and the boys 4x200 meter relay finished seventh. The highlight of the relays came when the girls 4x200 meter quartet (Taylor Lasoff, Jensen Kelly, Kennedy Williams, Kai McCarley) finished second in a school record time.
The team will continue to work hard in preparation for the important region meet next month.
(One additional note from a previous meet held at Lassiter High School in March 19. Thomas Egan set the school record in the discus that evening.)
