Three Cambridge Students Compete at Wingfoot Night of Champions
CAMBRIDGE ATHLETES COMPETE IN NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS

On Saturday, May 20, three Cambridge track & field athletes were honored to be selected to compete against the top athletes in the state in the Wingfoot Night of Champions on the campus of Georgia Tech. Ibrahim Bangura finished 11th among the state's best in the 110 meter hurdles, nearly running his personal best. Julia Versluis closed out her high school career with a ninth place finish in the pole vault (just missing a personal record) and a seventh place finish in the high jump. Lilah Versluis was able to leap to a third place finish in the high jump. We are proud of each of them.

The summer schedule of meets available for athletes are numerous. Two coming up in June are the Adidas Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, North Carolina on June 16-18 and the USATF Georgia Championships in Morrow, Georgia on June 22-25 (georgia.usatf.org). The USATF meet leads to the regional championship in Florida and the national championship in Oregon.

Lastly, let us also thank the graduating seniors and their families for the part they played to make this an outstanding season. Your freshmen spring sport season was cancelled because of the COVID suspension. However, you ended very close to the top and your legacy will serve as a motivating tool for the student-athletes that follow.
