Cambridge Senior Night Meet Produces Three School Records

Cambridge Senior Night Meet Produces Three School Records
On Wednesday, April 12, the Cambridge track and field team honored the senior members of the squad and their families in a home meet against five other teams. It was a bittersweet occasion, knowing how far each of the seniors have progressed and realizing they would be missed by the team next year. However, at the end of the evening, both the girls and boys teams had won the meet and all realize that much more is anticipated as the season moves to the championship phase.

The prior week in a meet at Centennial High School, a school record in the 110 meter hurdles was set by Ibrahim Bangura. Well, that school record and two others fell on senior night. First, Dominick Lawshea won the 110 meter hurdles and set a new school record (the first in school history to run the race in under 15 seconds). Next, Preston Clemmer won the 400 meter run and established a new school record (the first in school history to run under 50 seconds in the race). The third school record to fall was the boy's 4x100 meter relay team of Ian Chaffin/Cameron Parodi/Preston Clemmer/Brandon Moss, as they finished second in the event.

The other winners of their events were: Anna Filipek (3200 meters); Lilah Versluis (high jump); Noah Bollenbacher (pole vault); Julia Versluis (triple jump); Cameron Phillips (shot put - PR); Gabrielle Dandridge (400 meters); Dillon Shin (800 meters); Cameron Parodi (200 meters); Brandon Moss (100 meters); Grayson Peterson (1600 meters - PR); and Dominick Lawshea (300 meter hurdles).

The next meet will be the all important regional at Greater Atlanta Christian school on April 25 and April 26. The team has been working hard to make the Cambridge community proud!
