After rescheduling due to inclement weather, the Boys and Girls Track Teams traveled to John's Creek High School on Monday, March 25 and Tuesday, March 26 to participate in the Fulton County Track & Field Championships. Cambridge was one of sixteen schools competing in this two-day event highlighting the top track and field athletes in the county. The combined boys and girls Cambridge teams finished 14th out of 16 scoring a total of 28 points.
The boys' team standout of the event was Senior Hawk Hammer who placed first in the Boys Pole Vault with an astonishing 12-06.00. Hammer finished well ahead of the second place finisher – a 12-00.00 from John's Creek High School. – and secured all 10 of the points the Cambridge Bears boys team contributed to the school's overall finish.
The girls' team standout of the event was Sophomore Ali LoPiccolo who placed second in the Girls High Jump with a 5-00.00. Ali individually contributed 15 points to the Bears' overall finish with additional points secured for her fifth place finish in the Girls 100 Meter Hurdles (16.90) and her sixth place finish in the Girls 300 Meter Hurdles (50.15).
While LoPiccolo brought home points for her participation in the Girls 100 and 300 Meter Hurdle events, she was also joined in these events by teammates Kaylee Warfield who finished the 100 Meter Hurdles with a 20.60 and Emily Elsey who finished the 200 Meter Hurdles with a 1:00.79.
Lauren Stewart contributed another three points to the Bears' overall score with her impressive sixth place finish in the Girls 100 Meter Dash (13.08). Teammate Lacey Wolter joined her in this event and finished shortly behind with a 13.73. Stewart also competed in the Girls Long Jump and Triple Jump.
Despite not bringing home any points for the Bears, the continued presence of Alyssa Cleveland, Jahvona Pretty, Angela Ho, Lily Niebur, Krista Campolong, Isabel Wickliffe, Haley Chisholm, Corrine (Elizabeth) Sanders, Olivia Sieverts, Dashun Soto, John David "JD" White, Jalen Swarns, Bjorn Leicher, Luke Martin, Elijah Abley, and Caleb Gloster in the sprint and distance track events demonstrates that the Cambridge Bears Track and Field team is growing in strength and determination and is a contender worthy of recognition in this sport.
On the field, Mary Carr competed in the Discus Throw (58-04) while Sierra Bostick executed a 20-10.00 with the Shot Put. For the boys' field events, Eugene Ng finished the Shot Put with a 26-00.00 throw and Tyren Cabellos and Austin Thistleton competed in the Discus Throw with a (93-05) and (72-11), respectively.
