Another Diver Qualified and an All-American Get Ready for State
On Tuesday, Josh Oblen and Brooklyn Petit competed in the Marist Last Chance Meet. This was Oblen's last chance to secure his spot on the state roster, while Petit had a different goal in mind: All-American status.
Oblen competed in the 11-dive competition, which required him to master five additional dives. With a required score of 300, Oblen scored 310 and punched his ticket to state.
Petit, the school record holder in the 6 and 11-dive events, has been Cambridge's most talented diver. Medaling at state every year, she has also become the most decorated. With a state championship on the horizon, the only thing left was the All-American honor. With scores qualifying well above the required amount, Petit competed to settle what we already know. Petit is a champion. Not only did she win the meet, but she scored almost 200 points ABOVE the required score for All-American consideration. With her application on the way, we now wait for the formal decision. If the committee agrees, she will be the first Cambridge diver to receive the honor.
Petit and Oblen will be joined by Lilah Versluis at the state meet at Westminster on Tuesday. Versluis has had a great senior season and has had some of the strongest performances of her diving career. With so much work put in and so much talent, the Bears look like they could make a strong impression and give the swimmers a kick-start to finish the job.

Preliminary swim heats will be on Wednesday at Georgia Tech starting at 9:30AM. The top 20 return back on Thursday to swim again for points at 1:30PM. If a swimmer places 1 - 10 at prelims, they cannot go lower than 10th at finals. If a swimmer places 11 - 20 at prelims, the highest they can go is 11th place. The Bears will need to place in all relays and return the majority of swimmers to be considered for the podium. With deep talent and a lot of spirit to win, these two teams have come together to put up the best show they can. The Bears would love to see you come cheer them on!
