Bears Men's Tennis Team Loses Close Match

In conditions more like the week before Winter break than Spring break, the Cambridge Men's Tennis team lost a close contest to the still undefeated Titans from Northview, Monday, March 25, by a score of 3-2.

Michael Feirer outlasted his opponent after dropping the first set to win 6-4 in the third. The match was highlighted by long points and terrific all court play from both players. In the end, Feirer's serve and consistency proved to be the difference. David Ashcom also won a close, hard fought match in the third set for the Bears. He powered on to the win with his strong serve, counterpunching and put away forehands. Carson Harrell, and the doubles teams of Zac Hirschler/Brenner Lapid & Kez Fitzgerald/Grant Hollingsworth all fought hard but lost their matches to a very talented Northview team.

While the loss drops the Bears Region record to 7-2, they are still well positioned for the region tournament.

The Bears play away on Tuesday, March 26, at Sprayberry and then home on Thursday, March 28, against Mill Creek.

This Thursday, come out and support both of your Cambridge tennis teams. Both the men and women play at 4:00 p.m at the Cambridge courts.

It will be a great way to end the week leading up to Spring Break.
