The Cambridge High School Boys Golf team ended the season with a 5th place finish at the 5-A State Championship held at Bartram Trail in Augusta, GA on Monday, May 19th. Greenbrier High School won with a 291 in a playoff over Lakeside Evans High School.
"A top five finish at State is a very good accomplishment", said Peter Vajda Head Coach. "I am proud of our group as we had five of our six players score in the 70's". The team was led by sophomore Austin Redick (73), junior Ryan Stachler (75), senior Leland Dunwoodie (77) and freshman Robbie Bentley (78).
Others playing were sophomore Sutton Dunwoodie (79) and senior Chris Meyer (83). The team score of 303 was the lowest of the season.
Coach Vajda says the team will return with 9 of the 14 players next season, and with a great core of sophomores and juniors, the Cambridge Golf Team has a great opportunity to compete at State for years to come.
