Cambridge High School Varsity Football/Competition Cheer team, Head Coach Allison Chambless, Assistant Coach Erin Loudy Floyd, along with their coaching staff was awarded the prestigious honor of,  "2016 Team of the Year" by the Georgia Cheerleading Coaches Association.

As quoted by the GCCA, "The GCCA has always been dedicated to recognizing outstanding athletes and coaches, and Team of the Year is for the most outstanding overall cheerleading program in Georgia. Cheerleading is about athletics, academics, and service to the community. This award takes each aspect into consideration when seeking to recognize the top program in our state."

Cambridge Cheer's motto, "Commit to the C" helped them to recognize their many goals as a team this season. The commitment showed in the team's numerous accomplishments. The goals they set went well beyond cheering on Friday nights and competing on Saturdays. Cambridge cheer supported many causes including; CURE, Make A Wish, Cambridge Jr Cheer feeder program, organizing CHS Mini cheer camp, Breast Cancer foundation, "The Old Soldiers Day" parade, and much more. Cambridge Cheer looked for every opportunity to give back and had the unique opportunity of hosting a family in the community to attend mini cheer camp. They raised over $1900 for CURE and donated the funds in memory of Cambridge family member, Mary Elizabeth Paris. The program also organized their 1st cheer competition, "Cambridge Crown Classic", hosting over 26 school teams in the surrounding area. In addition the team was recognized for their achievements in academic excellence, school spirit, team bonding, among other criteria.   

Cambridge Cheer ended their season at the Georgia Cheerleading State Championship Competition in Columbus, Georgia placing 3rd in the state in the 5A division.

The cheerleaders credit their success as a team to their hard work, their coaches, Cambridge High school, and the Cambridge Cheer families for their support through out the season.  The team looks forward to 2016 with Try Outs in March. 

Cambridge Cheer is excited to be named, "TEAM OF THE YEAR" by the GCCA, winning the premier award which recognizes hard work, commitment, and over all success of a program throughout the state.
