Cambridge Cross Country Teams Excel at Alexander/Asics Invitational, Saturday, Oct. 7th

With the Chattahoochee river running alongside the course, six Cambridge XC teams raced at the Alexander/Asics Invitational in Douglasville on Saturday, October 7th, and came away with many of the fastest times of the season and of the program—47 out of 72 Cambridge runners set personal best times on this fast course and 16 met Elite Performance qualifications: 

Jack Filan ('19), Chris Anderson ('18), Mark Van de Water ('19), Zach Ellison ('18), Jack Donovan ('19), Carson Ertwine ('19), Anders Law ('20), Josh Gargan ('20), Chloe Phelps ('18), Lily Elston ('18), Troyce Grant ('18), Afton Hirschi ('20), Izzy Filipek ('21), Delaney Goodell ('19), Chloe Paskins ('18) and Clarissa Beck ('19).

The girls and boys school records were broken for the second time this year.  Chloe Phelps took 7 second off the school record and ran 19:16.  Jack Filan ran 15:26, breaking his previous record this year by 27 seconds.  Deacon Law ('20) placed 1st in the 9th/10th grade race with a 17:15, a personal best and Kyler Wilson ('19) won the Open race at 18:58, also a personal best.

Three teams placed 1st overall.  The Varsity boys team included Jack Filan and a great pack finish from Chris Anderson, Mark Van de Water, Zach Ellison, Jack Donovan and Carson Ertwine.  The 9/10th grade girls team, Julianna Finelli ('20), Leah Capomaccio ('20), Sarah Anderson ('20), Emma Flynn ('21) and Annika Phelps ('20), placed 1st by one point.  And the Open boys team, including Kyler Wilson, Sasha Severtson ('19), Rishi Murudkar ('19), Noah Bouton ('19) and Jackson Franklin ('19), also placed 1st.  Other team results include the Varsity Girls placing 7th, the Open girls 4th, and the 9th/10th grade boys 2nd.

The XC Bears race Saturday, October 14th at the Coach Wood Invitational in Gainesville and Tuesday, October 24th in the 6A Region 7 meet at Webb Bridge Park in Alpharetta.
