After clinching the regional championship, the Cambridge Lady Bears Varsity Lacrosse Team fell in the semi-finals on May 13 to a tough Kell team losing by a score of 15-13 in a closely played game. This capped off a highly successful season for the Lady Bears that ended the season with 19 wins and 2 losses.
During the regular season, the Lady Bears defeated 18 teams, including Blessed Trinity, Sprayberry and North Gwinnett. Their only defeat was an 12-11 loss to Bishop Eustace Prep of New Jersey on an April road trip. Their regular season play propelled them to the playoff which began and ended for the Lady Bears in their May 13 loss to Kell, the 2014 state champion.
The Lady Bears will graduate four seniors this year, including Jill Haight, who will play D1 lacrosse for San Diego State next year, Kelly Hagerty, who heads to D1 Mercer University in Macon, as well as Hannah Sisson and Chloe Gruca.
"I'm just so proud of the way the girls pulled together as a team," says Pam Masinko, Coach of the Lady Bears. "They played their hearts out. And, while it was disappointing to lose such a close game, the girls played really well, and they can be proud of what they achieved this season."
