| Title: | Boys Varsity Basketball Head Coach |
Coach Chip Flemmer is entering his eighth year as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Cambridge High School. The Bears are coming off back to back Region Championships. During the 2018-2019 season, Coach Flemmer led a varsity team that finished with a 20-9 record and lost in double OT to Gainesville in the Sweet 16. "The past three seasons have been amazing. Our teams have been to state in each of those seasons and have 64 wins in that time. We have lost a lot of quality players, but I am truly excited about this group having their chance to show everyone what they can do.", Coach Flemmer said.
Coach Flemmer has been the only head coach in Cambridge history and he came from West Forsyth High School where he served as the Head JV and Varsity Assistant coach for the 2011-12 season. In mid-January of 2012 he took over as the interim head coach for the final eight games of the season. The Bear's program is still young; however, they proudly have sent Emerson McClung and Kyler Ingram to Emmanuel College, Josh Leonce to Millsaps College, Jacob Sowers to Georgia Southern University and Kamar Robertson to Mercer University.
Coach Flemmer, in addition to basketball, has coached football, track, lacrosse, baseball and softball. He served as the head softball coach at Cambridge amassing a 49-14 record, a 2013 appearance in the 5A Sweet 16 and a 2014 appearance in the 5A State Championship game (runners-up) while earning the GHSA Softball Coach of the Year Honors.
Coach Flemmer has coached in Washington, California, Texas and Georgia. He and his wife Grace celebrate their 23rd anniversary on August 10th and have three children: Ashley (21), Austin (18), and Alissa (10).
